In 2 Corinthians 8:7 Paul tells the Corinthian Christians that they should be givers. “But just as you excel in everything — in faith, in speech, in knowledge, in complete earnestness and in your love for us — see that you also excel in this grace of giving.”
Just one chapter later, Paul reinforces the idea when he says, “Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously” (2 Corinthians 9:6).
Excel in the grace of giving. Sow generously. Those are strong (as opposed to apathetic) words. As such, they require action. Excelling in anything – giving included – takes determination and work.
I challenge you to consider how you can sow more generously into the kingdom of God. Go ahead and excel in the grace of giving.
